BODY
vs SPACE
2015-2016
Research that addresses how the topological space shows a paradox of the condition of the body: its vulnerability and concreteness; a tension between its becoming and its identity preservation. The performative actions put this ontological condition to the test, trying to overcome it whit gestures and its repetition, this frustrated task makes the paradox the main theme of the work.
Body vs Space is a series of performative exercises developed over one year in the context of a Mater Degree in Artistic Reseach.

2016 - Itinerant performance
(Body vs Space Section 1)
I delimited a cube by drawing its edges on the floor and walls. I did various actions to comply with the rule, such as running around the perimeter, turning at high speed, jumping to reach heights and distances, rolling all over the floor. In the execution of each one of them the difference between the dimensional multiplicity of the space and that of the body became evident. I could never satisfy the instruction.

I made several attempts to accomplish the instruction with actions, finally, with the help of objects, clothes and other precarious materials, I represented my body double. Although I do not satisfy the instruction, the very insistence makes evident the impossibility of participating in the ubiquity.

2016 - Itinerant performance
(Body vs Space Section 3)
I measured the dimensions of my house with parts of my body. I memorized the measurements in the order that the perimeter of the house allowed, I moved to another place and made the route identically drawing the original measurements on floors and walls, thus tracing the map of my house inside another room.
Sound composition: I described with my voice in a recording the sequence shot of a movie (Goodfellas, Scorsese), it is the journey that the protagonists take inside a restaurant, I introduced the audio to the performance, and through sound I recreated the space from the restaurant, and overcame the move from my house.

Four-part video with instructions:
Object = object: Be the object
Object = body: Act as the object acts
Body = object: Integrate the object into the body (as part of the body)
Objects or Bodies: Integrate the body into the object.
I was interested in showing the finite condition that allows to look at the body as a concrete thing, although fragile, ant that is not modified in its sediment by the relationships it establishes.
